The Hangberg Preschool

Since 2014 our Signature Project is the Hangberg Preschool in Hout Bay. Inspired and founded by Tania Gray and Marquerithe  Schreuder this project has become reality and opened the doors in October 2016 for about 120 kids.  Together with our German Partner Rotary Clubs Neuss, Germering, Landshut-Trausnitz and Eggenfelden-Pfarrkirchen, we were able to support this project by building this new school from scratch. The colourful wooden construction offers about 500 sqm room in an eco-friendly environment and over 400 sqm open playground that perfectly meets the children's needs in a safe environment. Enjoy this video about the school! More information of this project may be found under www.hangbergeducationaltrust.org .

Sea Point High

Rotary Am Kap has been actively supporting the Sea Point High School for a number of years. We initially financed the building of a kitchen which could provide a hot meal to those children leaving home early without breakfast. When the Interact Club at the school seemed to be floundering we took on the challenge and for the last 4 years have been assisting the members of the Sea Point High Interact Club with their activities. They have raised funds by selling self-cooked meals and muffins to their fellow students and were able to collect a great pile of Easter Eggs to distribute to a children’s foster home.
The school also has a thriving debating club and this has also been a pleasure to support and enable the Debating Team to travel to other schools and compete in local and regional debating competitions. They have won a number of prizesJ
Working closely with these youngsters we are able to identify and fund candidates for RYLA Camps and the annual Adventure into Citizenship program.
